Sat - 130107 - HKS CCA Orientation

We were supposed to meet at 8am, but i woke up at 8 instead. Somehow my HP alarm was bypassed, and my emergency internal alarm acted instead.

Showered, then took a bus over to hks.

Went to the scouts section, saw all the badges and stuff on display. And also the scarves and equipment. The 'campsite' idea we had didn't turn out too well cause the tents looked kind of crumpled, the equipment rack looked kinda shabby, and beh.

I guess the rain really put quite a damper on stuff.

To make things worse, hks has a new CCA this year called the NDSCC ... after trying repeatedly to understand, i believe they're a sub-branch from the civil defence. They brought in a 'Rhino' from a nearby station, and actually put it near the canteen. I must admit, it looks pretty cool and shiny.

The 2 5 minute presentations were given to NCC and NPCC, where they did their fancy drills, as usual.

Okay, before i begin on the orientation proper, i must say i miss hks very much. A lot of the students here and now, remind me somewhat of the students back then, i'm starting to suspect they may be sisters or something.

Somehow i always feel a bit happier when i'm back in hong kah.. haha. Maybe because hks was more fun than study anyways.

Okay, when the orientation finally started, and the sec 1's got down from the hall, the rhino blasted their sirens, and allowed people to play with their spray guns. Wow, what a morale damper..

I forgot to mention, scouts this year are also recruiting females, since we have a female scout teacher, 2 female leaders, and also a sec 2 female, who decided to join us on her own.

Me and Weixiang decided to walk around as a group. We didn't specifically target females or males, just walked around first to get the feel of things.

Things didn't change much i think, people were still running all over, and surrounding the sec 1's over and over. At least this year we didn't have to chase the girls, though it was certainly an interesting thought..

At the end of it all, we got maybe 12-14 people, and we're hoping that the number will grow as they attend our activities in the near future. HK scouts recruitment numbers tend to drop by quite a lot by the 1st week... so .. ah well.

Time to ask myself what priority this is eh?

I miss hongkah, i like the people here.. at least they're less devious and more innocent then the people elsewhere.. haha.
