9th August - 2nd Event - Lunch with Kelvin and friends -

2nd Event of the day - Lunch with Kelvin and cell -

I was at bedok, and was actually on the way home when i thought of 2 people to call. One is Zacky who lives in tampines. Called him and he didn't pick up, when he did call me later though, he told me he wanted to nua at home.. so yea.

Called Kelvin from Tuas, cause he smsed me yester-night asking me if i was free. Since i had time to burn before 5+ when i meet David, and i didn't feel like going home to sleep, i asked him where they were meeting.

Coincidentally, they were meeting for lunch at Kembangan, and since it was so near and i haven't had lunch yet, i decided to take up his offer.

Though i had to wait for an hour, i had Riviera with me, and suffice to say i wasn't bored. I was expecting a few people to go to some shop or restaurant for lunch. What i Wasn't expecting was a pot-luck lunch at someone's place.

And that place turns out to be a 2-level house(bungalow?semi-d?terrace?what do you call them again?). Its a very nice and big place, and first thing i found out when i got in was that there were a least 10-12 people inside, and most of them looked pretty young. Some of them i've seen before, like Samantha in FOP, and Denise & Weiting, back in Queensway.

After a while, we all sat in a round, and each of us introduced ourselves briefly. Too many names, but most of them were from Springfield, either in sec4 or 5. Some were in poly, and only kelvin and i were working. Haha. Dang, we're old.

Other than me, there was another guest as well, though i couldn't remember her name. She was pretty quiet throughout, and i knew her eyes almost popped out when they starting speaking in tongues for the prayer of the food.

Actually i feel that tongues shouldn't be spoken out loud. For various reasons. Not going to write them here and now. Maybe in some other post.

Right, we played some 2 games to sort of like ice-break. First one was a scissors paper stone game, with toothpicks as 'life'. Everyone gets 6 lives, and i was one of the 3 who got elimiated pretty quick. The rest got prizes. Wah i thought i was pretty suay man. lol.

The 2nd game we had was like 'blow, wind, blow'. You know, the one with the tree, squirrel, tornado? If you don't i'm not going to explain. Haha, deprived childhood (okay, just kidding lar). Blow wind blow is a very fun icebreaker, in which a person decides to be a squirrel or 1/2 of a tree. The 'trees' must hold hands, while the 'squirrel' has to hide under a tree. When there's a fire, the 'trees' have to run around, to find another 'tree' friend. When there's an earthquake, the 'squirrel' has to run, to find another tree. And when there's a tornado everyone gets mixed up. One by one people get eliminated, until only one set of 3 is left. Something like that anyways.

The version they were playing was the National Day version, with 'salutes', 'airplane flyovers', firewoks, etc. Pretty much the same stuff, just with erm, lamer actions and noises. Haha. I got eliminated pretty early in the game again, and it was fun watching the last few battle it out. In fact, it was really funny. One of the girl was very excited, and we just laughed...

Then we had lunch. There was really a very wide variety of food, and a mountain of spaghetti, fried rice and mashed potato? There were also your everyday finger foods like sotong balls, nuggets, fried chicken, curry and more unique stuff like sushi, omelet with cheese, apple strudel.

At a glance i knew that there was no way we could finish the food, and it returned to haunt us... Zhong Zi Mi Ma!

If you don't know how to play this game i really don't know what to say. But for YOUR benefit, its when a number is set by a non-player, and basically in a clockwise rotation, everyone gets a turn to guess the number, though the idea is NOT to get the number right. The one who gets it right has to eat a plate of food.

I must say, this was really scary at some parts. The plates of spaghetti and fried rice, luncheon meat, sushi, was Not fun. Especially for those who got 'hit' multiple times thanks to sabotages in the game. How to sabotage? You know when someone says choose between 1-20, and you say 10? That's sabotage, cause technically you cut the game in half.

I had fun, and even though everyone around me got hit mutiple times, i escaped unscathed. Thankfully my earlier lack of luck decided to leave me, and i only shared a bit of food with the guy beside me.

After we finished the game, we sat back and watched some TV. Wah liew, the tv is damn big, and we were sitting very far away, yet... you get the idea.

We had some doughnuts as well, and watched the last 20-30 minutes of Harry Potter ep4? Watched The guy with harry in the game die. Yeap.

Then we had to leave, cause Weiting's sister-in-law? was coming back, and it would be inconvenient for her to walk around with us around, as she was pregnant.

Then walked to Kembangan station, where the rest went to a nearby Cafe, while Samantha and i went to the station.

Some background info, Samantha looks alot like Jiapei, who was a close confident of mine in my first year of TP. Haha, we talked to each other about loads of stuff, and would bitch about our 'crushes' back then.

Lets just say perhaps because of this striking resemblance, i felt pretty comfortable with her. Since i was waiting for David to pick me up in his cab, i basically waited with her at the bus stop for her bus, which took at least some 10-15 minutes to arrive.

We chatted a bit, and it was a... very normal chat. What were you expecting?
No we didn't trade numbers or anything, what kinda guy do you think i am? But yea, i must say i had fun.

Went to cheers to buy a drink, before David came over in his cab, with peck kin.

But that's, part 3.

Meanwhile, some pictures i took. And yes, in case you didn't already know, they were from CHC.

We were sitting quite far away, but we could still see the tv. Damn big lor.

Stairs! I didn't climb up, but stairs in your house... maybe i should aspire for a house like this...
