Friday The 25th. Navy Open House

Woke up at 5:am by Edward, he wanted to give me a morning call cause he thought i needed to be at Expo by 6:15. Fact is i needed to be at TMC by 6am, quite a difference.
Slept on, woke up at 5:20, showered, ate a bit, then tried to hail a cab to work.

Hmm, funny how there are no cabs when you need them. Though i only waited for a few minutes, i thought they would be everywhere. *shrugs*

Irregardless, i reached, and then took the ambulance with Mitchell, onwards to Changi Naval Base. The sun made the sky look good.. the shade of blue contrasting with the whiteness of the clouds, and the yellow of the sky.. it almost made me remember my sailing days, when i was looking at the same sky.

Reached Changi Naval Base, then ate SAF breakfast, consisting of one fish fillet burger, and one hot dog bun. Then had some cheapo brand sugar cane juice.

Well, i found out that i was to be deployed at the Medical Post, which i later realised was at the 185 Sqn Building. Me, KC and Rongming took the buggy over. My! Its the first time i've ever set on a buggy~ It was pretty cool~

We occupied a small room in the building, and quickly set up the room so that everything was in order, should there be any casualties.

Technically, we were in an air-con room, but we couldn't really feel the cold air. Anyhows, it was much better than to be under the blazing sun outside, which i tried for a while during lunch time. Me and Yunxiang just swopped with Fidelis and Samuel.

Right, the Navy Open House. Somewhere around 3pm me and Yunxiang took a walk around. I managed to walk the entire open house. FIrst off, there were around 3-4 rows of food stalls, distributed evenly. There were also various game stalls, which i didn't really look at, and many exhibits under one big tent. There were 3 games there, one of them was to control a gunner, sort of like a shooting game. It was really quite lame. The other one was as a navigator, and i missed the third.

All the types of navy ships were also on display, namely the PV(patrol vessel), MCV(missile corvettes), MCMV(mine sweeper vehicles?), the LSTs, and the Frigates.

The frigates are the latest additions to the Navy. They don't have windows, and are supposed to show on the radar as a fishing vessel. I mean if everyone knows that, than i'll probably scan all the fishing vessels, especially when i'm attacking in a war. haha.

There were also many sea activies, like allowing you to pillon ride in a Jet-ski, riding in a banana boat, sitting in the navy's very own version of the 'Singapore Duck Tours', and smaller boats from the LSTs, which were released into the nearby waters.

There were also 2 other First Aid Posts, that were out in the shelter.

A stage was set up in front of the main command building, and activities ranged from Choir singing by our very own SAF song and dance, to choir performances from Compassvale Secondary School, to performances by NDU.

Yeap, it was really quite happening.

There wasn't a lot of casualites(thankfully), just a few minor ones.

The base ceased operations at 5pm, and at around 6:30 we were waiting for our last parade at Changi Medical Centre. At 7pm, a few of us took rides home.

I forgot to mention, at around 12+ i received Jek's sms saying that his dad has passed away, so i smsed Weixiang and asked if he wanted to come with me.

He was at the libary, so i headed over to JE library at 8pm, read a bit, before leaving for Jek's place.

It was nice catching up, he looked okay to me actually... and we left after a while.

I slept til very late the next day...
