Some Motivational quotes by Helen Keller

Here it is, some quotes from Helen Keller, who happens to be blind and deaf. More details here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Keller

I like this one a lot..
"I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do."

These ones you have heard before,
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart."

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us."

This one makes a lot of sense.. And should be followed..
"When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another."

The power of Optimism!
"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows."

All or nothing... that's what life is. Get out of your comfort zone and do something!
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
she adds on to say..
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing."

You may have heard this before
"One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."

How true...
"Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood."

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved."

"I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble."

This one reminds me of another quote..
"It is better to be happy for a moment and be burned up with beauty than to live a long time and be bored all the while."

22th Jan - 25th Jan -

22th Jan - Monday - Half day -

Today was a half day for me, cause of the overnight cover i did.
Reached home, drank quite a lot of cough syrup, then slept from 5pm til the next day 6:15, though i did wake up a few times in between.

23rd Jan - Tues - Duty -

Nothing much today, just that there was a case in the evening. A guy skidded off his bike cause of a dog in base. The dog looked like he was going to stop crossing, but crossed the road at the last minute, and caused the accident.

We cleaned his wounds a bit, and Mingwei sent him to NUH in the safety rover.

Then we took turns running. I decided to try the 4 minutes run, 4 minutes walk thing. I must say, it was really tiring... at the end of 10+ minutes, i wasn't running anymore but jogging. Bleh.

And at the end of it all, my back started to hurt pretty bad. And here i was thinking that the pain should have receded by now. Bleh!

24th Jan - Wed - Reported sick for back pain - Half day -

Yeap, reported sick, and managed to get a week's light duty. I got Kefeng to do my SoW cover since i was really in no condition to do so, and somehow Bendy got 'arrowed' to do my Sailing cover for Rosefinch next week.

It was a half day for us cause of the MMC at HQMC. Some of them went to kick some balls, while me and Edward took a cab home. Edward was holding on to quite a large amount of condoms, among other stuff, and yeap.

I don't remember what i did at home, most likely mapled i guess, though i'm getting bored of doing the same thing again and again. I must be missing the point of mapling... like getting to know girls or something. haha..

25th Jan - Thurs - Counselling -

The morning wasn't anything much, but in the afternoon i went for counselling again. This time it was about a sort of profiling test. I don't remember what's the full name of it, but it was like TSTA. Some Taylor something test.

This test consisted of about 180 questions, and i took like 20+ minutes to finish it.

We talked a bit after that, and then i left for the market near my house to collect my watch, and then for home.

Reached home at about 4:30pm.

Think i did the quotes entry that night, though it looks a bit blurry, i'll have to work on it somemore later.

Went to the SIM webbie to look at some stuff too. Though i didn't get much of the information that i wanted...

Went to sleep pretty early.

Friday - 26th Jan -

We did the IPRE set up in the afternoon, and i realised that i had to do the thing next week.
Which means i'll be staying from next tuesday night to thursday night, 8pm - 8pm.
Its going to be very taxing, because about 7 people will run the medical centre (and i'm one of them). The rest will be hidden up somewhere, not allowed to be seen at all.

This will be sorta fun i guess. It IS a major exercise, and time will pass by pretty fast i'm hoping.

Read up some more on Rich Dad Poor Dad, its really a good book. Ah yes, i started reading this last sat for my cover...

I need to finish it soon.

20th - 21st Jan - TP open house - Biz Skit - CMM Tour - Night cover -

20th Jan - Saturday - TP Open House - Biz Skit - Cmm Tour - Night cover -

I almost wanted to give this a miss, since i wasn't feeling too energetic this days, and yesterdays NP open house was quite a bit of a letdown... but well, Tomithy convinced me to come, and thankfully he did.

I reached Tp at around 2pm, taking the traditional train method. Didn't want to try the triple bus way as the buses sometimes take forever to come in the afternoon.

Saw mingwei on the way to school, and when i finally reached, the memories came floating back. Dang, i missed TP. The Orientation leaders were in full force, giving us a welcome as we entered school from the bridge, and me and tom headed straight to Business school.

I knew from the past few years of orientation that the 'Must see' skit at business school was at LT 19, and we walked in there, a few minutes before the skit started.

Dang, it was funny. This year was about TP and their superheroes, each of them a person from one of the respective business school courses. The plot wasn't that good, but it was the actions from each and every one of the actors that made it good. Not to mention the dialogue. I'm sure everyone that was there enjoyed the skit tremendously.

I know i did.

After that, walked around the 'chat rooms' which were opened to let people know more about the courses available. I walked to law & magt, and were greeted by a couple of year 1 and 2 students. We chatted for a bit, them having no idea that i was a graduate of course, and i asked some questions about some of the career options available...

Did you know that i could actually become a legal researcher? Haha, now that's interesting.

its a pity i didn't see any of the lecturers, must be because its already late afternoon. Ah well.

Went back down to one of the LTs, and actually managed to see Haider, Priya, Tammy and a few others. They were doing some kind of presentation(no, not my ex-classmates), and were asking questions.

It got extremely boring after a few minutes, and since it was around 3:30, we went back to the CMM's lab. CMM being Communications and media management. The tour opened at 3:30, and we went on in.

We were shown the radio rooms, and actually learnt how they DJ. It was really cool, seeing the programs they use, and the way its been done.

Next was the studios. The 'Live' TV section. They actually did a live show, and we were there at the set itself, seeing how it was done. We also went to the command room of the studio, and saw how chaotic it actually was.

Man, all these eq looked very new, and they said everything was just upgraded. No wonder this course are for one pointers only.

I always wanted to come in, but never really got the chance to. Now i'm glad that i got a look around...

After that, we went to the library and i showed Tom around a bit. It started raining a bit then, and i brought him to the Design canteen, though everything less the drinks store was closed.

Then went to Bugis to meet his Aunt for dinner. I brought him to Sketches and his aunt treated us. When the bill was presented, a few items were missing, and Tomithy instantly pointed that out. Now what would you have done? If i was the one paying, i may not have done the same thing.. but you will remember Thoughtscape, and the reputation that he's trying to potray...

Bought some bread and instant noodles, and then we took the train down to JP, then a cab down to TNB. Right, we're actually doing a Night cover...

So we showered, prepared our stuff, and at 9:30, the vehicle came and picked us up. We eventually headed off to different directions, and my vehicle went to a port near PSA.

I talked to the driver a bit, and it seems he maples quite a lot. He's level 120 in fact, and he has tonnes of accounts. its kinda crazy.

He also shared some of his experiences with girls, and it was a pretty uneventful night, sleeping in the mini-bus.. it was pretty uncomfortable too actually.

Not going to elaborate much, but at around 1:30, i reached TMC and waited for Tom. Played some table soccer and got thrashed 10-0 by Jason and Zhiyuan. beh.

Took a cab back home, mapled a bit then slept.. since i didn't sleep well the night before ya?

14th - 19th Jan - first time i saw Xuting

14th Jan - Sun - Kbox - Imm -

I believe i went to kbox with Jooseng... klunch actually, but because we didn't reserve a slot earlier, we only managed to get a set of lunch, which was =_=

Ah well, we were there for 2 1/2 hours, but we sang for only about 2 hours since i was looking at all the new Fan Yi chen songs that they've uploaded... he's my idol yea?

After that we went to popular to look for an organiser, both of us. Somewhere along there, we caught sight of Mah, who was holding a portable ice box. It seems that he's going for a bbq with his gf and a few others later in the evening, and he was headed to IMM's Giants.

That was really quite a coincidence, since we were headed to imm ourselves, for some lunch. Ah yea, Imm's new wing has opened some time ago, and they had some really nice stores, clothings & food alike. There's a fish & co there now too, among others.

We settled at one of the new stores, a HK restaurant. The name on the right shirt pocket of their name said 'Katrina', so i'm guessing that's what the name of the restaurant is called, in English.

I had a plate of beef noodles, which were really quite good, only for the fact that its quite small. Among all the oddities of the food there, i recall these er, Yam fries i believe. No.. not yam. Some vegs... aargh i can't recall. But it was very salty, and er, i guess its sort of nutritious .. *shrugs*

After that, went home. Don't remember what i did at home though.

15th Jan - Monday - LFI -

Wangyang from BMT arranged to meet me up, and because of my Fumigation cover which ended quite late, we almost didn't meet up.

We did so in the end, and had dinner at JP's Pizza hut. Somewhere in the conversation he brought up the fact that he wants to bring me down to someplace for a business opportunity.

Yeap. MLM of sorts. I agreed to go down, and er, to keep it really short, reached Paya labar? at 9pm and reached home at 12+.

17th Jan - Wed - Last minute Duty change -

Changed duty last minute, i sent a case in the morning which took some time, and when i came back, it was just in time to pack lunch. The day ended pretty quick.

We had some fun at night er.. 'swimming' =)

18th Jan - Thurs - Bought my Cat -

Yeap, i finally bought my cat in Maple. I'm now the proud owner of Kitty Neko.. haha. Quite cute this cat. Maybe i'll get it to talk soon. Maple maple maple.

19th Jan - Fri - Xray - Open house @ Np - Botak Jones Dinner -

It was a short morning, cause i had to go for an xray appointment at sembawang in the afternoon. I had this persistant back pain for some time, and the doctor advised me to go for an xray, and so i went.

I left at around 12+, and i reached the xray centre at Sembawang at around 2:20+. The whole xray took about 5-10 minutes, and i reached Clementi Ngee Ann at around 4:30. Why so late? Cause i took 154 from the wrong side of Clementi, and i travelled back in the direction of JP =/ That took about 30 minutes.

When i finally reached NP, i saw that it was crowded and full of students, but it wasn't really that happening. I just can't describe that happening feeling. But i found a bit of it in their CCA hub. Their cheerleading group was really 'zai', and there were also a lot of interesting CCAs, like this glamour shoot cca. Its like they're just posing up, and taking pictures. Weird stuff.

There was also a performance in a stage, and various people were singing. I must say, they're pretty good. It was only a while later that i learnt that they were joined Lee Wei Song's singing lessons, and they were also advertising for them. Hmm~

The winners from Jue Dui superstar 2 were supposed to grace the occasion at 5, but around 4:50 i was already feeling pretty bored and out of it, so decided to just sit down and talk to Kaili for a while before departing for clementi's botak jones.

On the way to the big Cheers outlet near the bus stop, i caught sight of Denise and friend, from HKS. She was setting up a store, and while there were still a lot of items left, she mentioned that they had already 'break even'. Hmm, kind of makes you wonder.

Reached Botak Jones at around 5:30, managed to get a table, then the rest came. Basically the portions were huge, and i must say i couldn't finish my Swanky Franky for the first time in my life. Then again, we had some rojak just before, so it doesn't really count.

We went to west coast RC after that, played a few hours of pool before heading home.
Slept at 2+am.

Sat - 130107 - HKS CCA Orientation

We were supposed to meet at 8am, but i woke up at 8 instead. Somehow my HP alarm was bypassed, and my emergency internal alarm acted instead.

Showered, then took a bus over to hks.

Went to the scouts section, saw all the badges and stuff on display. And also the scarves and equipment. The 'campsite' idea we had didn't turn out too well cause the tents looked kind of crumpled, the equipment rack looked kinda shabby, and beh.

I guess the rain really put quite a damper on stuff.

To make things worse, hks has a new CCA this year called the NDSCC ... after trying repeatedly to understand, i believe they're a sub-branch from the civil defence. They brought in a 'Rhino' from a nearby station, and actually put it near the canteen. I must admit, it looks pretty cool and shiny.

The 2 5 minute presentations were given to NCC and NPCC, where they did their fancy drills, as usual.

Okay, before i begin on the orientation proper, i must say i miss hks very much. A lot of the students here and now, remind me somewhat of the students back then, i'm starting to suspect they may be sisters or something.

Somehow i always feel a bit happier when i'm back in hong kah.. haha. Maybe because hks was more fun than study anyways.

Okay, when the orientation finally started, and the sec 1's got down from the hall, the rhino blasted their sirens, and allowed people to play with their spray guns. Wow, what a morale damper..

I forgot to mention, scouts this year are also recruiting females, since we have a female scout teacher, 2 female leaders, and also a sec 2 female, who decided to join us on her own.

Me and Weixiang decided to walk around as a group. We didn't specifically target females or males, just walked around first to get the feel of things.

Things didn't change much i think, people were still running all over, and surrounding the sec 1's over and over. At least this year we didn't have to chase the girls, though it was certainly an interesting thought..

At the end of it all, we got maybe 12-14 people, and we're hoping that the number will grow as they attend our activities in the near future. HK scouts recruitment numbers tend to drop by quite a lot by the 1st week... so .. ah well.

Time to ask myself what priority this is eh?

I miss hongkah, i like the people here.. at least they're less devious and more innocent then the people elsewhere.. haha.

Sailing on wed-thurs~

As forecast, i would be sailing on wednesday, and (phew, thinking about it now just gave me a bout of 'going into the sea-sick phase, of shaking around even though i'm on land' feeling.

Anyways, the shore-leave timing was 10pm, so i showered and got everything ready at 9:40, and set off for the ship.

Reported to RSS Independence again, expecting to see a few familiar faces this time around and i did. Reported to Coxn and was directed to the gun bay. Was joined by 5 ndu and another nsmen medic who was asked to join us last minute.

Didn't really talk to the ndu guys much, but the nsmen medic Patrick, happened to be an accountant, and is quite friendly. He told me he took an accounting degree in Australia, then continued to study for a few more years before he landed his job now in AMD as a financial planner... no i don't quite remember his exact post but something to that effect.

I was telling him about my plans to venture into accounts or management, and he said that going into management is like getting a degree in admin, because its very general, and getting a degree in accountancy would however pay more, since its more specialised.

Understood that, and we chatted a bit more, before the ndu people joined us, and then we got our mattresses up, and tried to sleep. That was after our briefing, and at around 11+pm.

Well, since this was a firing exercise, we were woken up quite a few times as they needed to do things IN the gun bay. Suffice to say we got a bit of rest, though interrupted.

We were feeling the effects of the sea when the ship set off, though it was much worse in the morning where we had to move to the multi purpose hall when they were shooting. The sea state was starting to get bad, and after that we just went back to sleep.

We didn't dare to eat breakfast you see, lest we .. you know, throw up. Continued sleeping til about 1pm, where we decided to have a bit of lunch, which was porridge, by this time the ship was rocking very horribly, and they called it sea state 4.

Sea states are catagorized from 0 - 9, 0 meaning non existant, and 9 being the worst. While 4 might sound mild, you need to try it to believe it.

When i raise my leg to take a step, its like my leg is raised higher, and when i lower my leg, expecting to touch the ground, i have to lower it more instead. It feels a bit like matrix, or maybe an illusion type of feeling.

We spend most of the time lying down, as walking could be quite a nightmare. Lying down minimizes the feeling of well, the rocking, and sleeping takes our mind off things.

Though i had to focus several times not to vomit. The pressure was really bad. And eventually we asked for some marzine from the Coxn.

Marzine is a pill designed to combat sea sickness. I believe it takes effect a few hours later, but i think it really helped.

At the end of it all, when we reached base, it was raining pretty badly, and i'm glad i got some umbrellas from home sweet home. Bade goodbye to the rest, and went back to the med ctr at around 10+

A sailing i won't be forgetting anytime soon this one..

1st and 2nd of Jan

1st of Jan was spent sleeping, until around 5+, when i met Weixiang and Weilun at JP.

We wanted to walk over to Bro Jh's place, but it was raining, so we took 246 instead, which instead of taking us to our destination, looped around Taman Jurong, and some other place. We were back in JP after about 40 minutes..

This time the rain has stopped, so we walked.

We bought wings, fries and otak to his house, since this is a potluck dinner, and when we reached we found fried rice, hokkien mee, salad, nachos and other stuff.. phew.

I only ate a few wings, and felt pretty full.. dunno why, maybe too cheong liao lately.. *cough*

We played with the baby a while, then played some mahjong, at 20,40, i lost about $3.60. That's after playing for about 2 hours..

After that, we went to weixiang's area, 1 is to borrow a bike, 2 is to talk about his new and first ever girlfriend...

After hearing his story, i wish him success in this relationship...
And i realised that everybody loves weixiang... haha...

reached home at about 3:30, slept at 6+ i suppose.

2nd Jan

Agreed to meet the rest up at 1:45 Plaza sing, but i went to jason's house first. I almost couldn't wake up =_=

Anyways, i walked over to Yew Tee from jason's house, took a train over to CCK, and took 960 for probably the first time.. HOWEVER, as it was climbing up the spiral road to Tanglin CC, the bus started to jerk pretty violently. i could feel that the tyre was bursting or something.

Then there was this smell of rubber that permeated through the air, and the feeling of something hot too.

When we reached the bus stop, some people outside were pointing at the bus, then at the tyres. Then someone said there's a fire, get out!

Strangely enough, everyone was pretty calm and walked out slowly instead of rushing and pushing... then the bus driver tried to take out the fire extinguisher from the box, but had a hard time breaking the glass. Then some uncle decided to help him, and sprayed the extinguisher all over the tyres, which were smoking and also had a large amount of tar underneath.

I was looking at this pretty detachedly... since there were no indications of the bus blowing up any moment.

Bleh, the next 960 was too crowded, had to take the next one.

Met my poly group, Davyd, Jiayan, Zacky, Kher wei and Chain You at kbox, then sang for only 3 hours, and we paid $13 each for student price.. and 2 drinks..

Basket! This is mass scamming! they used to let us sing until 7pm!! GRR.. what's their problem?

We then slacked at TCC, then at Giraffe, which is opposite the Istana...
The ambience is good, quiet and ... silent.. made us feel like sleeping.

The portions were really small, and it didn't taste that good too... i don't think i'll ever go there in the near future..

After that bought a hotdog bun at PS, then left for home..

I need a break from my long break... i'm so tired...~

31st at MOS

I spent my 31st sleeping til 4+pm, cause i slept at close to 8?

Thought about whether to join budee for the countdown at MOS, since i know it'll be crowded and everything, and eventually weiquan and i relented, and we left for JP.. for dinner.

Supposed to go down to Boon Lay CC to help weixiang out with the Campfire thing, but in the end was too nua.. so..

Met up with Huiting, Lim ping, Budee and weiquan at JP, then headed to fiesta for some japanese dinner.. then on towards Clarke Quay, at MOS.

We took the side entrance, paid $25 for a drink and admission, then went in.

Truth be told, it's really quite boring, there wasn't anything much to do but dance and drink, and after drinking a cup i didn't feel like drinking anymore, so well, i tried dancing.

Until i got very tired of it... and the people were piling up, so beh, really nothing much.

We left for a break at 2+, and then they ... went back =_=

I really didn't want to go back, but beh. go psychoed back. In the end, i realised that the whole place got crowded by 10x, and it took 20 minutes to move from one end of the room to the other... i got diliberately pushed around too, and that made me very irritated... so i left, and met them at the designated place.

I swear.. i won't be going back for a long time.

I also saw a lot of policemen, and a lot of troublemakers about... hmm~
don't feel like saying so much about this, saw a few people concussed on the ground too.

In the end, we took NR3 back to Bukit panjang area, then took cab back home...

And so another year begins...

The last few weeks before 31st

As expected, i don't think i'm going to recall each event day by day, so here's a round up.
(In no particular order)

19th happened to be my AMPT, an annual test that i had to take.. thankfully it went relatively well...

And what did i do afterwards? Think i went to Jason's house to do some stuff...
Oh yea, actually i went to his house at Yew Tee quite a lot of times these few weeks, to get Edward's PSP, and also to transfer some stuff.

Not to mention going out with him to Numbers once more, on the 23th, since it was Xiaoxiao's bday... (one of the girls working there.) Not going to touch too much on this.

Went to watch Eragon somewhere on the 22nd with v7 at Suntec City, then we headed back to JP cause QS had to cut his hair and prepare for his trip to genting. We walked around for a bit, then decided to go to Budee's house for mahjong, and we brought a lot of drinks as well. (i meant alcohol)

Ronald joined us at 3+, and we also had some macdonalds for supper, since no one wanted to go over to Boon Lay place to get nasi lemak, too nua le~

I biked back home at 6+am... tired!

On the 30th i also went to Davyd's church's christmas service.. we arranged to meet at 5+ in City hall, where we had dinner at the pizza place, before heading to Kallang theatre for the event.

The thing is, the 'act' or 'show' only took like 30-40 minutes, there were about 10-15 minutes of Worship, and about an hour of sermon... which i felt was a bit extreme. I really was not expecting an hour of sermon, especially since i went to CHC's event last year and it was purely the show...

Not to compare churches, CHC has the resources and manpower to do a lot of things that other churches can't, so i'm not going to touch anymore on this.

On the 28th i went out with v7, my secondary school mates for Lunch at Sakae Sushi, Choa Chu kang.. phew, it was quite a feast. Cost us about 20each at the end of it all. Went to the arcade for some guitar freaks after that... haha, i must be getting nua, cause after 3 plays my hands almost cramped up. phew.

I think on the 29th we went over to Huiyuan's house to play mahjong... her house was somewhere in jurong west extension, and has 3 storeys ... wah liew.

Her entire house was air conditioned, and they even had a karaoke system installed, though there were a few glitches here and there..

We played mahjong, and other dice games, and the winner had to drink.. me weiquan and budee only left at around 7+ in the morning.. (I must say, i won quite a few times for mahjong here... i like this place!)

On the 30th, i went to Jason's house again, and stayed there long enough until i had to take a cab over to Tampines (at 19.50 =/) to reach just in time.

The death note marathon was pretty cool, though there wasn't really enough time for us to interact, aargh, not quite what i wanted... but as least the movie was cool.

I liked part 2 a lot, Amane Misa is really pretty..~ And after doing some research, i found out that Light Yagami's actor was the same for Battle Royale 1 & 2.. interesting.

We left Tampines at about 3am, then reached home at 4:30, where Edward came to my house and uploaded some games into his psp, and also watched a bit of Saw... wah liew, that show's kinda gory...

Basically i've been going out every day, and trying to get enough sleep in the process... But nothing beats the 31st....

A temprary halt to updates

Sorry guys, i've been really really busy for the last 2 weeks..
Its insane actually... i swear i've never drunk so much, went out so much, spent so much in my entire life.

I'll update when i'm free, now that all the holidays are over...

Meanwhile, stay tuned =)
